John is a native Tennessean, born and raised in Memphis, with deep roots in a family dedicated to ministry spanning four generations within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University, graduating cum laude with a BBA in Finance.
As a founding partner of AJ Advisors, John is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and holds his Series 65 and Life Insurance licenses. He works closely with clients to develop personalized financial strategies, oversees trading, and serves on the firm’s investment committee—helping guide thoughtful, long-term investment decisions.
John and his wife, Emilie, live near Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood with their daughters, Meredith and Lainey. He is actively involved in the community, serving as Treasurer for Nashville Tools for Schools, a nonprofit that supports local public schools through hands-on building projects. At Woodmont Christian Church, John is a Life Elder and has previously served as Chair of the Elder Board, Chair of the Endowment Committee, and a member of the general church board. He has also served as Treasurer for Nashville Emerging Leaders and regularly volunteers through church and community initiatives.
Outside of work, John values time spent with family, building things by hand, and exploring new places. He enjoys woodworking, traveling, and staying active through outdoor sports, including boating, fisihing, hiking and snow skiing.
